Art is my passion. It doesn't matter what the medium is.

Since I was old enough to hold a crayon I've had an intense urge to create and fortunate enough to have parents who've encouraged me. As a child I took many different art classes which carried through my college days (I would have been in heaven if every class was art related) and beyond.

My biggest influence is my mom. Growing up we always had home cooked meals with everyone at the dinner table and there was always freshly baked desserts. Even today she cooks/bakes up a storm,  trying out new recipes along with the tried and true favorites. Holidays are an event in our family with a decadent array of food. You never go hungry when visiting. She's also very artistic so naturally I grew up inspired.

Sweetest Perfections came into existence in 1992 after taking some cake decorating classes from a locally owned shop in St. Louis. It was so different from what we can do today (fondant wasn't commonly used and star tip decorations, tons of ruffles, staircases, fountains, and plastic couples were all the rage....). A lot has changed over the last 17 years, and there are so many incredible things we can now do with sugar! Its a never ending process, learning new techniques, testing new recipes, as well as taking classes in other mediums to push Sweetest Perfections forward, always seeking to be on the cutting edge of cake design.

One of the best aspects about what I do is our amazing clients. It is so
exciting to meet with people, get to know their vision... what is important
to them, and incorporate that into their cake design. Its not just a cake,
its a deliciously edible piece of art.
